The Covenant Journal: A Commentary on the Church

Changes

Bill Carroll is a priest, a churchman, a theologian, and an articulate champion of the Gospel. He has written frequently for these pages and will continue to do so. He was only recently assistant professor of theology at the University of the South School of Theology and is now rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Athens, OH. We welcome him as our new coeditor.

With this issue, Covenant becomes The Covenant Journal and for at least two reasons. We are not a newsletter (no spaghetti supper and vestry meeting minutes will appear here). We are a commentary on the sometime ludicrous affairs ecclesial, want to stay out front of and expose the current coup d'eglise, and as our masthead has always said, the Baptismal Covenant is our editorial policy. Further, to paraphrase the late John Hines, sometime Presiding Bishop, we want to "keep (our) church family on the firing line of the world's most desperate needs and to learn to accept the exquisite penalty of such an exposed position."
